Falconry course planning
Welcome and introduction
10:00h – 11:00h
Birds of prey are not pets. You will carry small and medium-sized birds on your hand and practice to transmit them a feeling of security and confidence. You will learn to feed them on your hand.
For a good and safe development of the activity you will receive the utensils of a professional falconer.
Birds of prey show
11:00h – 12:00h
Before starting to fly the birds yourself you will attend the birds of prey show of the Zoo of the Pyrenees. In this way you will be able to appreciate live the bond that forms between a person and the bird of prey.
In the birds of prey show both the participants and the companions of the course, as well as the other visitors to the park, partivipate actively in the show.
Owls
12:00h – 14:00h
Seeing a bird of prey fly towards you and land gently on your glove is definitely an unforgettable feeling. You’ll gain practice with small-sized owls in a fun and safe way. Plus, you’ll be gaining confidence in yourself.
Then it’s time to test your courage. You will come in contact with the eagle owls, the largest owls in the world. You’ll feed them, carry them on your hand, and even fly them.
Lunch
14:00h – 15:00h
Food is not included in the course price. The Zoo of the Pyrenees has no restaurant, only a bar with drinks and a picnic area. We recommend you bring your lunch from home.
Falcons
15:00h – 16:30h
Falcons are the fastest animals on the planet. It is obviously different to deal with an owl than with a falcon.
You will receive a brief explanation on how to understand them and learn how to work with them. We’ll explain why we cover their eyes with a hood and what a decoy is. In the end you will fly to the falcon yourself and feed him.
Eagles
16:30h – 17:00h
You will end the day with an insurmountable feeling. Hand feed a golden eagle and vultures.
